Medical Intuition In A New Light

by Dr. Gary Berman

Good Day! In this day of high technology and complication we may lose sight of a very valuable commodity ourselves. You see, I am a Doctor of chiropractic, a Naturopathic Medical Doctor, and a Doctor of Physics. I'm also a Medical Intuitive and a Psychic. Is this a contradiction in terms?

Hardly. As a Physicist I attempt to understand nature using mathematics. As a Doctor I understand human nature using anatomy, physiology, nutrition and the nervous system. As a Medical Intuitive I understand human processing and functioning in terms of feelings. So which method best serves the health of my patients? It's a combination of them all. But based on the treatment of hundreds of people over the last four years I can say that Intuition is an essential element in true healing.

The concept of using Intuition is becoming much more acceptable. For example, the January/February issue of Spectrum Magazine featured an article entitled, "The Intuitive Path to Business Success." They stated that the Chairman of the Board of the Sony Corporation makes decisions based on taste. Decisions are "tasted" and if easily swallowed are considered truthful. Another top executive can walk into a department within his company and "feel what is wrong" with the workers at their stations. Certainly any doctor that has practiced for some time develops an intuitive feel for his/her patients and treatments.

However, as with any gift, there is the potential for it to be misunderstood and/or abused. So I will address different facets of the phenomenon.

Let me begin with the "hows" of this ability. No one is really sure how someone becomes highly intuitive. One theory is that its origins lie in the temporal and frontal parts of the brain. I will postulate on my own that the entire nervous system - brain, spine and peripheral components - is most important.

From elemental wave guide theory we learn that a human being with arms and legs extended represents an antenna. For those who are old enough to remember the roof TV antennas, we can use this as our human model. Some of us are able to receive information (vibrations) in a highly sensitive manner. I believe the vibrations are received by the nervous system and changed into electrical signals, which are then transported to the brain. Once there, the vibrations are compared to our library of knowledge. If the incoming signals agree with what is stored in our library, we sense this as correctness. If the signals disagree with our library, then they are probably viewed as incorrect. It is upon this general model that I have developed my concept of Intuition.

So what is the role of the Medical Intuitive in today's health system? I believe it is to give the patient valuable information that perhaps is not available to him or her in any other manner. However, whatever information is given to the patient should be tested and proven if for no other reason than for confidence.

Now let's see how Intuition can be used in more specific terms.

I have found that illness does not occur by chance or by judgement from an irritated God. Rather, nature gives us sickness for the following reasons:

  1. As an arrow pointing the way to issues which we have chosen to ignore,
  2. As a method to release toxins (by sneezing, fever, diarrhea, etc.),
  3. As a chance to rest and sleep and to avoid stressful environments,
  4. As an occasion to fast, pray, and reflect as necessary,
  5. As a potential to build better health habits that compensate for years of neglect, and
  6. As an opportunity to come to a health professional and learn more about health and healing.

When patients come to a health professional, such as myself, they are usually at a point when confusion and doubt have so distressed them that they are unable to access their own inner guidance. At this point, the Intuitive can most easily pick up the potential underlying causes of the present set of unhealthy conditions. Then he can determine whether they are emotional, biochemical, structural, or possibly a combination of these.

For example, many patients suffer from what is called timing. This is a condition that involves confusing present health concerns with those learned from earlier times. This can manifest as physical aches and pains and/or emotional turmoil. How does timing work?

Let's take the example of someone hurt in an automobile accident. Perhaps years after the accident, long after the physical damage has healed, the patient is still not exactly right. Maybe they have developed vague fears or obscure body pains that defy medical tests. Most often, all the patient knows is that "I am not right." Few people will associate these conditions as arising from the accident in their past.

This is exactly where Medical Intuition shines. As I talk to the patient, often dates, times, places, or years come into mind. By a series of questions I can generally direct the patient back to the origin of the problem. Then I can give them a homeopathic remedy, or adjust the spine to redirect the thinking signals and/or provide help with nutrition and exercise to help the symptoms. We are able to end such vague problems effectively. Another advantage of Intuition is that the patient's internal healer will direct me to the appropriate muscles or bones to adjust as needed. While this is not a replacement for psychological therapy, it often stops the problems quickly and forever.

Another example of the general use of Intuition is that of finding the true reasons for wanting to get well. I have found that once a patient begins to recover, their body asks, "why?" Why should I get well? Intuition can generally uncover the "why" fairly quickly. When we know why the patient should get well, recovery continues uninterruptedly.

One of our patients initially came to us in a wheelchair with an attached oxygen tank prescribed by her M.D. to assist her breathing. Through Medical Intuition, we were able to discover that the reason for her breathing problems stemmed from watching the drowning of someone very close to her. Although the incident had occurred many years earlier, she was still suffering the effects. Once she acknowledged and accepted this, she was able to begin healing. Then with Chiropractic care, nutritional counseling, and exercise, she was able to get well. Shortly she was free of the oxygen tank and breathing normally on her own. She was able to lose weight and become a healthier, happier person.

You will also find that it is relatively easy with Intuition to determine if a food, nutritional product, or just about anything matches a patient. Not only can we establish what substances are best for the patient, but also what amounts are needed by the individual. Again, the correct answer reinforces data from our internal library and we feel a very strong reaction. Correspondingly, if the reaction is incorrect the feeling is either very weak or not there at all.

To those of you who want to improve your levels of intuition let me suggest the following:

  1. Determine what your emotional blocks are and where they began. Look at your belief systems. Do you believe it is possible for you to develop this?
  2. Learn how you process data. Some of us are better at certain oft he five senses than others. Examine your responses, since our brains are all wired differently.
  3. Practice making predictions. Examine yourself first. Learn where essential organs and glands are in your body, such as liver, gall bladder, spleen kidneys, adrenals, thyroid, and pituitary - for starters. If you don't know, go to someone who does and practice feeling each organ or gland individually for strength or weakness. Mark down what you think, then compare your answers to results from muscle testing, electro-dermal screening, blood work, or whatever you desire.

In conclusion, I have attempted to explain a plausible model of medical Intuition. As a practicing doctor, I am very comfortable in using this gift in my practice, and as a scientist I have proved to myself that my answers are beyond "chance". Therefore, if you are struggling with medical problems that are not being resolved, need help with emotional problems that appear overwhelming, or just want to improve your overall health, give Medical Intuition a try.
