AstroForecast March 2003

by Lance Rodriguez

All times Central Time Zone

The Sun is transiting the sign of Pisces as we enter the month of March. The angel of March is Machidiel and the angel associated with the sign of Pisces is Varchiel. Pisces is the sign of the zodiac that orients itself to compassion, selflessness, understanding, empathy, philanthropy, psychic impressionability, desire for unity, completion and integration, artistic inclinations, maritime affairs, cinema, and the collective unconscious. Negative expressions of Pisces can be disillusionment, depression, martyr/victim syndrome, abandonment/neglect issues, the savior/redeemer/rescue syndrome, unrealistic expectations and negative escapism, co-dependency/addictions problems and rose-tinted glasses perspectives.

Sunday March 2nd at 6:40am is the entrance of harmonious Venus into the egalitarian and humanitarian sign of Aquarius over the next 25 days. Venus engages her more cause-oriented, social side through this sojourn. Teamwork, unity and the love of novel approaches to bring about mediation and compromise are strong then. Healthy emotional detachment can be fostered.

The Sunday evening of the 2nd is also the sky-theatre for the annual Pisces New Moon that occurs at 8:35pm that symbolizes the Moon’s new beginnings/new initiatives phase in her celestial cycle around our Earth. The most tender, the most compassionate and the most surrendering yet immensely forgiving of the astrological water signs, Pisces ultimately is symbolized by two fish, each one going in opposite direction of the other, thus perpetually in motion, spiraling in emotional agitation and yet excitation. The idealism of Pisces is enticingly filled with illusions, some emotional and others beyond reality. Pisces replenishes us in the department of lost emotions and yearned forgiving and healing for deep within our innermost selves we all recognize the Cosmic Sacred Heart that this planet’s astrological ruler Neptune symbolizes ultimately. That is the rich fabric that all of humanity claims as emotional patrimony. Now the patriarchy maybe utterly astonished when Pisces through several key astrological alignments will engage the worlds’ unconscious yet sentient connection to this terrestrial ecosphere of the planet we inhabit. Themes of integration, unity, spiritual retreat and pilgrimage, philanthropy, inspiration, compassion, dream casting and dream weaving, artistic inclinations, volunteerism and selflessness are tied to this New Moon. Angel Atheniel is at service for invocation for any assistance with this Pisces New Moon. Aquamarine and amethyst are powerful combinations for this lunation. Quan Yin is holding protectively the golden hind. Keywords associated for this Pisces lunation are there are times we step up to the plate collectively to vow as humanity our inner longings and yearnings that we may cooperate with all of our diverse expressions common ideals that transcend that which creates disunity. A society that lives eternally alone, dreaming and drugged, invites the calamitous and teases fate.

The Sun through an inharmonious 90Ò angle makes contact with the Solar Eclipse chart of December 4, 2002. Strong individual identification through tension, anger or anxiety about the following areas were mentioned in the December AstroForecast 2002: “Those individuals born the first week of December, June, March and September are quite sensitized to this eclipse. International financial affairs, multi-national banking transactions and global financial markets will be emphasized with this eclipse chart. The Astro*Carto*Graphy Map of this eclipse sensitizes the following geographic areas: Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Morocco, Lisbon, Madrid, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Finland, Central Japan especially Osaka, Melanesia and Wellington New Zealand. Keywords associated with this lunation are surrender ingrained prejudices and subjective, pre-mature foregone conclusions. Humility reorients the ego to sacrifice false pride and arrogance.”

March 4th Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) is quite a celestial event with two planetary ingresses and especially the Red Planet, Mars is very active. Mars in a farewell gesture to fire sign Sagittarius harmoniously hooks up with innovative, original, creative and shocking Uranus. This is an excellent configuration for rapid deployment of military programs with an element of surprise. Technology and its recent 21st century inventions aid stratagems. Mars enters the sign of patriarchal Capricorn this day at 3:17pm and remains in this earth sign for an approximate 45-day journey. The industriousness of Capricorn is combined with the robust assertiveness and aggressiveness of Mars. Baltasar Gracian once said: “Learn to be your own master, and then you can be the same of others” is symbolic of this Mars Capricorn ingress. Capricorn can be symbolic of the well-systematized and highly organized structure of great business and giant enterprise. There is a certain steeliness of Mars in Capricorn that can be ironic yet hypnotizing to observe. Mistakes are quickly experienced with an extraction of wisdom that works as a boundary filter for any subsequent errors. Training and discipline chisels character and a strong robust constitution.

This same Fat Tuesday, Mercury enters poetic Pisces at 8:04pm and remains entranced until March 21st when for a second time in the month of March, Mercury enters a new sign. This is an excellent period for meditation and visualization in regards to long-held dreams and personal visions for one’s future. The logic and reason that Mercury is used to can be challenged with swirling emotions, passions and vagaries that prompt temporary confusion, uncertainty or tentativeness. Mercury late in the evening has a harmonious contact with Mars that symbolizes assertive communications and aggressive planning with education, the military or commerce.

It is also this Fat Tuesday that Uranus aligns with the Aquarius Full Moon degree that occurred last August 22, 2002. Due to retrograde motion of this planet and then its subsequent direct motion, Uranus will reconnect with this degree of that Aquarius Full Moon of August 2002 again this coming September 25th and December 21st of this year. Here is a partial quote from the August AstroForecast 2002: “Issues involving mental cruelty or perversity, extreme emotional detachment, rebelliousness, Teflon behaviors (nothing-will-stick-to- me!) and aloofness are emphasized for release. Let go of stubbornness, ineffective rebelliousness, extreme emotional detachment, anti-social behaviors and the out-in-left-field syndromes. The Astro*Carto*Graphy Map for this lunation emphasizes the Hawaiian Islands, the entire middle section of the continent of Africa, Eastern Europe especially the following capital cities: Athens, Sofia, Belgrade, Bucharest, Budapest and in particular Warsaw. The following Baltic cities are also included: Vilnius Lithuania, Riga Latvia and Tallinn Estonia. Keywords associated with this lunation are suspend ephemeral visions so that freedom and autonomy are thoroughly integrated. Cultivate unconditional respect and reverence for universal brotherhood and sisterhood in the now, here present moment. “We hope that the world will not narrow into a neighborhood before it has broadened into a brotherhood” Lyndon Baines Johnson.”

Wednesday the 5th is the bi-monthly ecliptic shift of the Moon that can symbolize changes with meteorological, seismic and volcanic activities. All acts of benevolence, tolerance and broadmindedness are associated with this ecliptic shift. Personal ideals and wishes require the ability to target the aspirations that will motivate the individual to be alert when an opportunity comes down the turnpike.

An Apogee Moon (farthest distance of the Moon to Earth) occurs Friday the 7th that is symbolic of the ability to cultivate objective and impartial emotions/feelings. The challenge for this Apogee Moon is symbolized by how any individual can experience feeling at cross-purposes with important mental/educational priorities at odds with material/financial security. A remedy for this disharmony is associated with a harmonious contact the Sun has with healing Chiron. Perhaps a massage, a Reiki session, aromatherapy and/or holistic approaches can soothe jangled nerves.

Venus opposes Jupiter on Sunday the 9th that can witness overindulgent tendencies, excessive procrastination and great appeasement that sometimes translates as great concessions given at a great price. These two planets were conjunct one another last June 3, 2002 so these two dates may have correspondence to one another. Extravagance with luxury at the expense or breaking the budget is a pitfall.

Monday the 10th at 2:53pm is the entrance of Uranus into the sign of Pisces, an event that only occurs once every 84 years in this planet’s orbit around the Sun. Uranus will remain in this sign for an approximate 7 years except for a brief retrograde period from mid-September until the end of December as Uranus re-enters Aquarius then. When Uranus was last in Pisces (April 1919 – January 1928) the Roaring 20’s was in effect that startled the world with dizzying forays into Prohibition and its attendant mob-gangster activities, motion pictures garnering wide audiences especially when sound was introduced in 1927 with the release of The Jazz Singer, and Jazz definitely emerging into the American music scene (uncanny how the recently released movie Chicago is timed on the eve of Uranus in Pisces). American women won the right to vote during the last Pisces sojourn of Uranus. Radio made great inroads then and television was invented in 1926.

While Uranus is in the sign of Pisces over the next 7 years, Neptune the planet that rules Pisces is passing through the sign of Aquarius, the sign that is ruled by Uranus. This simultaneous passage of these two planets in each other’s ruled sign is called mutual reception in astrology. Mutual reception involving any two planets in astrology tends to intensify energies greatly. Historically the previous mutual receptions involving Uranus in Pisces and Neptune in Aquarius were the years 1835-1844 and 1668-1676. The 1835-1844 period is when the Romantic Movement in Europe was very strong. The 1668-1676 period witnessed the reflecting telescope invented by Isaac Newton as well as the Benedictine monks in France inventing champagne (a process of introducing air, the element associated naturally with Uranus into wine, a Neptunian ruled substance).

This new passage of Uranus in Pisces in the first decade of the 21st century can witness startling and astounding inventions, experimentation or discoveries in some of the following areas: scientific breakthroughs involving technology with oceans being harvested for medicines from yet undiscovered organisms. The recent passage of Uranus through its own ruled sign of Aquarius saw the rise of artificial intelligence and the cyber revolution. Perhaps artificial emotion will combine with artificial intelligence to either create a true robot or breakthroughs associated with neuro-chemical discoveries of what triggers human emotions. This may be very helpful to mental/emotional disorders especially those that bring about afflictions through depression or quite literally insanity. Pisces is strongly associated with the arts so futuristic Uranus can instigate new visionary expressions of music, literature, theater, film, dance and photography. True 3-D holograms can become a daily reality. Psychic impressionability, phenomena and visions are strongly linked to Pisces so surprising advances, experiments and progress can also be cultivated in regards to this spiritual side of life. Pisces as the last sign of the zodiac symbolizes the dissolution of old forms and structures to be returned to the divine source of creation so a new form will be birthed. Religion and spirituality will more than likely experience chaos, confusion, and uncertainty as well as paradoxically experience new heights, inspiration and new paradigms of unique and original expressions of compassion, mercy and devotion. Pisces roots and bats for the underdog, and truly desires to uplift and integrate the disenfranchised members of society as functional individuals. Uranian democratization and its attendant politics will engage a true equal rights for all members without regard for special privileges.

Uranus is the planet that brings about a liberation and enlightening consciousness. Liberty is therefore at the forefront of this Uranian gestalt. Pisces is also the sign symbolic of the collective unconscious. Liberty, its applications and defense, will be pervasive in how society will address the themes and issues associated with it. Lady Liberty in New York harbor is an excellent symbol for this Uranus in Pisces passage. Pisces rules the oceans, maritime law, navies, harbors and ports. President Grover Cleveland accepted the statue on behalf of the United States as a gift from the people of France. Especially impressive were these words of his: "We will not forget that Liberty has here made her home; nor shall her chosen altar be neglected." The recent heinous acts of terrorism literally at the feet of Lady Liberty reminds the United States of America liberty is paradoxically hard won and hard lost. The worst expression is the tendency of the United States to become smug due to its gross materialism and capitalism and thus take liberty for granted. This expression tends to alienate foreigners through hate, envy, covetousness or ingratiation. The poem written by Emma Lazarus that is written on a plaque at the base of Lady Liberty reminds us all collectively to recognize the importance of liberty:

The New Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame,
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore,
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me
, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Rather interesting the line of “A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame is the imprisoned lightning” has a connection to Uranus as the planetary ruler of lightning. Lightning can be quite destructive yet electricity can be constructive. "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore, Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" is strongly Piscean in nature as this sign is symbolic of compassion, mercy and universal succor. Yes the United States was injured with the terrorist attacks of New York City, home to Lady Liberty. This powerful poem associated with Lady Liberty reminds all Americans collectively to remember all earthly inhabitants in our diverse cultures and societies as respected and welcome through a new age of Liberty. Abraham Lincoln once said, “Our defense is in the spirit which prized liberty as the heritage of all men, in all lands everywhere. Destroy this spirit and you have planted the seeds of despotism at your own doors.” The economic disparity of the juggernaut U.S.A. with other geographical areas around the globe is a culprit in how some members of other countries despise and revile our nation. “I would rather belong to a poor nation that was free than to a rich nation that had ceased to be in love with liberty” Woodrow Wilson. Concerns for safety and security are paramount in the United States’ defense from acts of terrorism yet as free individuals we must be vigilant in regards to safeguarding our freedoms and liberty. “They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little safety deserve neither liberty nor safety” Benjamin Franklin. Our emotional foundations may have been rocked especially in regards to fear: “Liberty is the air America breathes . . . In the future days, which we seek to make secure, we look forward to a world founded upon four essential freedoms . . . freedom of speech and expression . . . freedom of worship . . . freedom from want . . . fredom from fear” Franklin D. Roosevelt.

When the entire planet Earth opens to this true Promethean fire Uranus symbolizes in the sign of Pisces mankind recognizes it is time to “Proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof” LEVITICUS, XXV, 10.

Monday the 10th is the last waning inharmonious 90Ò angle of the transiting Sun to the Solar Eclipse chart of June 10, 2002. Here is a brief quote from the June 2002 AstroForecast about that Solar Eclipse chart: “Communications dynamics in partnerships are strongly emphasized whether communications breakdowns or breakthroughs will be witnessed. Pluto, Saturn and the Lunar Nodes are importantly aligned with this lunation so karmic themes/issues that allow the opportunity to bring about transformation are highlighted. Bridges and tunnels grab attention as security risks. The Astro*Carto*Graphy Map of this eclipse highly emphasizes New Delhi, India and Islamabad, Pakistan in Asia. The entire eastern seaboard of the United States is also strongly emphasized as well. In the Americas Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Cuba and the Bahamas and surrounding islands are also significant.” Adjustments in communications, international diplomacy and targeting goals are due to an aspect Mercury has with Jupiter on this day. The planet Pluto on the following day, the 11th, is in an opposition aspect to this same Solar Eclipse chart so great definition and clarification associated with how power, resources, will power, determination and persistence will be shared, merged or bonded will be an important focus. This Pluto opposition to the Solar Eclipse chart of June 2002 will repeat again through retrograde motion and then through direct motion again on the following dates: April 3, 2003 and December 16, 2003.

Wednesday the 12th is the conjunction of peaceful Venus with ethereal Neptune. This date is the “seeding” of Venus with Neptune that will percolate to consciousness especially through their later opposition to one another on August 7, 2003. This can be a romantic day and evening as long as mental repartee is convivial. Music, art, theatre and entertainment are ripe for the seduction of the senses. The avant-garde can be enticing and provocative.

Thursday the 13th is an inharmonious aspect involving the Sun with Saturn that can symbolize frustration of those individuals in executive positions especially in regards to delays, restrictions and limitations. A certain pessimism maybe in the air and for some individuals this ignites fears and depression. This same Thursday is the alignment of Neptune with the degree of the Aquarius New Moon of February 1, 2003. Here is a brief quote from the February 2003 AstroForecast about this lunar degree: “The planet Neptune will align with the degree of this Aquarius New Moon on March 13 2003, again on July 22, 2003 and a final rendezvous on January 14, 2004. Perhaps there will be important correspondences to note with all these dates. The following geographic areas are sensitized to this Aquarius New Moon in the Astro*Carto*Graphy Map: Lima Perú, Caracas Venezuela, Reykjavik Iceland, Pakse Laos, Saigon Vietnam, Pontianak Borneo, Western Australia especially Marble Bar, the mid-section of the continent of Africa especially Cape Town South Africa, and the following European cities: Athens, Sofia, Belgrade, Budapest, Krakow and Warsaw. Keywords for this Aquarius lunation are through intense observation and exceptional skill in judgment you are ready to leave behind the sordid past, so full of desperation and letdowns, and are now ready to embrace the evolutionary future.”

A harmonious contact between Mercury and Chiron on Friday the 14th is excellent for alternative therapies, chiropractic work, massage and or Reiki. Healing through communications breakthroughs can also be significant. Healthy mentoring of teenagers especially can be rewarding.

Mercury has inharmonious contacts to Pluto on Sunday the 16th and with Saturn on Monday the 17th that can provoke crisis psychologically and deepen fear emotionally. Acts of terrorism can be perpetrated. Also on Sunday, Mercury makes an inharmonious alignment with the aforementioned Solar Eclipse chart of June 10, 2002. Please refer to the previous paragraph of the quote from that June 2002 AstroForecast.

The annual Virgo Full Moon occurs on Tuesday the 18th at 4:35am that symbolizes the release/surrender/completion phase of the Moon. Issues to release associated with this lunation are criticism, anal-retentive behaviors, negative micro-management, overly perfectionistic tendencies, hypochondria, budgetary worries and negative faultfinding. Virgo is the sign that rules the armed services so particular attention must be taken in regards to what happens with this governmental entity especially that the following day is a Perigee Moon (closest approach of the Moon to Earth) that can symbolize strong intense emotions can come easily to the conscious surface. This Perigee Moon is strongly associated with wounds and hurts due to cold emotional distance that sabotages cooperation and compromise in all relationships. The second bi-monthly ecliptic shift of the Moon that can symbolize changes with meteorological, seismic and volcanic activities occurs on this day of the Virgo Full Moon. Temper tantrums of some individuals associated with not getting one’s way is problematic with this ecliptic shift of the Moon. The A*C*G Map of this Virgo lunation sensitizes the following geographic areas: Argentina, La Paz Bolivia, an exact hit to Caracas Venezuela, Puerto Rico, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia Canada, insular Malaysia, Borneo, Indonesia, Western Australia, Honolulu, the middle third of Africa, and especially the following European cities with Athens and Sofia as direct hits and Brest Byelorussia. Keywords associated with this Virgo Full Moon are the self is looking for familiarity amidst all the confusion and disarray. Rampant assumptions dictate control mechanisms to keep things or situations the way they are instead of truly embracing the next phase of evolution. Yet there is an inner knowing that evolution is coming whether welcomed or not.

The majestic Sun enters the sign of Aries (Spring Equinox or Ostara, a Pagan holiday) on Thursday the 20th at 7:00pm for its annual 30-day journey in this ardent sign. Strong identification with the positive Aries expressions of the can-do-attitude, healthy self-assertiveness and aggressiveness, entrepreneurial and enterprising spirit, self-motivation and pull yourself-up-by-your-own-bootstraps attitudes is emphasized. Aries loves impromptu and spontaneous activities that satisfy a desire for the new in life. Aries can also exemplify negative expressions of willfulness, confrontation that arouses anger, frustration and/or violation, jumping off the cliff without checking to see if there is a safety net down below, and living on the edge of danger as an adrenaline-driven compensation. Spugliguel is the head angel of spring with Milkiel as ruling angel of the spring months. Four other angels (Amatiel, Caracasa, Core and Commissoros) associate themselves with this season as guardians. Call on these angels to assist you through all spring months this year.

Rapidly following the Sun’s entry into Aries is Mercury’s entrance in this fire sign on Friday the 21st at 6:16am for an approximate 14-day journey. Speedy developments can occur in negotiations and bargaining tables. New ideas burst onto the scene with some being a quick panacea for long-term problems. Assertive and aggressive communications are usually highlighted with this transit of Mercury in Aries. “Actions are always the best interpreters of thoughts” T.H. Huxley. Mercury also has a conjunction with the Sun on this day symbolizing the “seeding” period of these two planets with one another.

Venus has a harmonious contact with Saturn this same Friday the 21st symbolic of rewards for cooperation that have been delayed in the past due to breakdowns in communications especially in all relationships. Financial rewards can also be bestowed to those individuals that have done well in teamwork approaches and applications. Solidity and security in friendships is a strong ideal.

Saturday the 22nd at 11:13pm is the station retrograde of the planet Pluto that launches a retrograde period of this planet of transformation, intrigue, power, psychology, soul and anything hidden in life until its direct motion later in late August 2003. Transformation of the self through one’s targeting of personal ideals and visions is important for self-growth and expansion. Abuse in all forms will be important to purge and eliminate. Keywords associated with this degree position of Pluto are in one’s search and striving for the ideal and visionary sometimes faith and belief attract miracles in life. Just as wine is consecrated and symbolic of the blood of the Christ, one’s inner faith and belief is the symbolic blood of a true disciple’s life. This acceptance is what stimulates the individual to acknowledge that life here on Earth is meant to be understood as the Divine material expression of ecstasy. The A*C*G Map lines of this retrograde station of Pluto sensitizes the following areas: Managua Nicaragua, Honduras, Havana Cuba, Central Florida, Raleigh NC, Washington DC, Ottawa and Montreal Canada, Nepal, Eastern India, the Western third of Africa, Barcelona, Paris and London.

Mercury significantly makes some impact over this same weekend with an ecliptic shift occurring on Saturday the 22nd that symbolizes important shifts involving changes to all commerce, trade, negotiations, contracts, information, news services, cable systems, internet and data. Significant discussions involving health care, insurance, Medicare/Medicaid, medical research and investigation are high on the list. Pioneering actions and discoveries will have to undergo intensive adjustments.

Mercury in a harmonious aspect with Jupiter on the 25th is symbolic of growth and expansion through the recognition, seizure and development of opportunity. A remarkable ability to see the big picture and retain the exact details is available to be tapped. Studies oriented to higher knowledge, higher wisdom, higher spirituality and philosophies do well.

Venus conjoins exciting Uranus on Friday the 28th that stimulates all relationships when partners affectionately respect one another’s freedom and independence. Startling developments or announcements occur with technology stocks. Both of these planets, Venus on Friday and Uranus on Saturday have an inharmonious alignment with the Lunar Nodes. Venus is asking for a timeout for compromise and/or mediation with how some individuals get caught up with empty and meaningless hyperbole that creates negative judgments and opinions. Uranus is prioritizing the need for teamwork as an effective energy to consolidate in the midst of inconsistency of information and devaluing moralistic preaching.

The last day of March witnesses a harmonious contact between Mercury and Pluto that is excellent for informing oneself very well about one’s own psychological understanding. Penetrating insights can help one to create potent plans. A ripple in time is created.

“For what avail the plough or sail, or land or life, if freedom fail?”
Ralph Waldo Emerson

“The freedom and happiness of man . . . are the sole objects of all legitimate government.”
